Who is eligible to pick up the merchandise reward in-store at Best Buy®

Only the ThankYou® Member who redeemed for the reward item may pick up the order at the Best Buy store specified in the confirmation email. Best Buy will release the reward only to the person whose first and last names match the Member's first and last names on the order and who presents a matching government issued photo ID.

What information must I provide when I pick up my merchandise reward at Best Buy?

You must provide the Best Buy order number included in the email notification you received confirming that your reward was ready for pickup and a government issued photo ID.

What is the Best Buy order number?

The Best Buy order number was provided in the email notification you received confirming that your reward was ready for pick up at the store. It is 16 characters in length and begins with BBY01-XXXXXXXXXXX.

What do I do if I lost or misplaced the email containing my Best Buy order number?

You may contact the ThankYou® Service Center at 1-800-ThankYou (1-800-842-6596) and request that a replacement email be sent to you.

How long do I have to pick up my reward item at the Best Buy store?

Your order will be held at the Best Buy store you selected for eight (8) calendar days after receiving the email notification confirming that your order was ready for pickup. If you do not pick up your order within (8) calendar days, we will cancel your order and return the Points back to your ThankYou® Member Account. You will receive email notification within 2-5 business days confirming that the Points were credited back to your ThankYou Member Account.

Where do I go to pick up my item once I am at the Best Buy store?

Once you get to the Best Buy store, look for the pickup counter sign or ask the associate at the door to direct you to the right place.

Can I return or exchange my item back to any Best Buy store?

Yes. You may return or exchange most Best Buy items at any Best Buy store within the continental U.S within 15 days of shipping date or in-store pick up date.

You will need:

  • A government issued photo ID that matches the name on the ThankYou Member Account

  • The Best Buy order number, which can be found in your confirmation email

  • The Packing Slip or the Best Buy store receipt

    Please include all original packing materials, manuals and accessories to be able to process your return or exchange.

    You will receive an in-store credit in the form of a Best Buy gift card or offered the option to have your ThankYou® Points returned to your ThankYou Member Account, which will take approximately 2-5 business days.

    Please note: DVDs, software, video games and assembled products may not be returned unless proven to be defective or damaged prior to receipt.

  • If I want to return an item that was originally picked up at Best Buy, can I ship it back instead?

    Yes. If the item you picked up was not the one you ordered, you no longer want the reward or the reward is damaged or defective, you may return it to ThankYou® Rewards as long as it is postmarked within 15 days of the in-store pickup date.

    If your request for a return is approved, a confirmation email will be sent to you with further instructions.


    You will not have to pay for the cost of shipping your package.

    What Items are non-returnable to Best Buy?

    Some items cannot be returned, including:

  • Items that are damaged or abused after receipt
  • Items that are missing accessories, such as remote controls, cords and cables that were included with your reward item
  • Etched or otherwise personalized items and items that do not bear a serial or UPC number.
  • DVDs, software, video games and assembled products may not be returned unless proven to be defective or damaged prior to receipt.
