Online Bill Pay With Points


Your ThankYou® Points are now more useful than ever. As a ThankYou member with an enrolled Citibank® checking account, you have access to Online Bill Pay with Points — a new feature that lets you conveniently use points, or a combination of points and cash, when using Citibank's Online Bill Pay option.

Here's how it works:


  1. Go to your Online Bill Pay portal on citibank.com by clicking the "Get started now" button below.

  2. Select a bill from payees you've paid in the past or add new payees, just as you normally would.*

  3. Choose your ThankYou® Rewards Account

  4. Enter the amount of ThankYou Points you want to redeem or use a combination of points and cash.

  5. Choose a checking account. On the day of the scheduled payment, your points will be deposited as cash and the full amount of your bill will be deducted from your checking account.

  1. 1. What is Online Bill Pay With Points?
    Online Bill Pay With Points is a feature of ThankYou® Rewards. It allows eligible consumer checking account customers to use ThankYou Points or a combination of cash and points when making an online bill payment from a Citi checking account using Citibank's online bill pay feature.
  2. 2. How does Online Bill Pay With Points work?
    From Citibank Online, select the payee you'd like to pay. If you'd like to use a combination of points and cash, also enter the cash amount and choose a checking account. On the day of the scheduled payment, the cash from your redeemed ThankYou Points will be deposited into your checking account and the total amount of your bill payment will be processed from it.

    No. There is no service fee.
  4. 4. Who is eligible to use Online Bill Pay With Points?
    The Online Bill Pay with Points feature is available to ThankYou Rewards Members who have an eligible Citibank consumer checking account enrolled in ThankYou Rewards.
  5. 5. Can I use Online Bill Pay With Points for a bill if I don't have enough points to cover the entire amount of the bill?
    Yes. You may use a combination of available funds from your consumer checking account and points to cover a bill if you don't have enough points to pay for the total amount of the bill payment.
  6. 6. Can I set up a bill payment using more points than I have available in my ThankYou member account?
    No. The Online Bill Pay with Points feature will only allow you to use the available ThankYou Points you have in your ThankYou Member Account at the time the bill payment is set up.
  7. 7. Where do I view a record of my Online Bill Pay With Points transaction?
    From Citibank Online, visit the "Details" section of your Bill Payment history. From thankyou.com, visit My Order History in your account.
  8. 8. Can I use a combination of points and cash to pay my bill?
    Yes. You may use a combination of cash and points to cover a bill payment if you don't have enough points to pay for the full amount of the bill payment.
  9. 9. Why do I need to select a checking account if I'm covering the bill entirely with points and not using any cash?
    When you use the Online Bill Pay With Points feature, the cash from your redeemed ThankYou Points will be deposited into your Citibank checking account then the total amount of the bill payment will be debited from that checking account.
  10. 10. When will the points be taken out of my ThankYou® Member Account?
    Your points will be deducted from your ThankYou Member Account on the day of the scheduled payment.
  11. 11. What happens if I don't have enough points to cover an upcoming bill payment using points?
    If there aren't enough points in your ThankYou Member Account on the day of the scheduled payment, we will not complete the payment. Please make sure you have enough points in your ThankYou Member Account to cover all upcoming payments.
  12. 12. Can I cancel a scheduled payment using the Online Bill Pay with Points feature?
    Yes. You may cancel a payment up to 11:59 PM Eastern Time the day prior to your scheduled payment. If you cancel before this time, no points will be deducted from your ThankYou Member Account.
  13. 13. What happens if I stop a payment for a bill using ThankYou Points after the bill payment has been processed?
    Your redeemed points will be redeemed for cash that will be deposited as cash in your checking account. The ThankYou Points will not be returned to your ThankYou® Member Account if a payment is stopped.
  14. 14. What happens if I have insufficient funds in my checking account when I try to make a payment using ThankYou Points and cash?
    If there are insufficient funds in the checking account, the request will not be completed. We'll try again for the next two days. If there are still insufficient funds on the third day, we will be unable to complete the request. Any redeemed ThankYou Points deposited as cash into your checking account will remain.
  15. 15. Can I use my ThankYou Points toward all types of online bill payments?
    No. ThankYou Points cannot be used for bill payments toward any accounts with Citibank or a Citibank affiliate or for express payment or recurring payments.
  16. 16. Can I use Online Bill Pay with Points from my mobile device or tablet?
    No, you must use your computer to use this feature.
